Currently serving on the national board of Directors for Student Television Network and School Tube Inc., Dave is a leader in the development of industry certification standards and a major force behind Arizona’s shift towards quality multimedia technology education.
He served on the Arizona Department of Education Stakeholder Commission and Perkins Design Plan committees. He has served as a member of the Art Institute of Phoenix program advisory committee, Technical Skills Chairman for Skills USA, City of Phoenix Educational Access Governing Board vice-chair, and Vice President of the Arizona Interscholastic Press Association coordinating Broadcast, membership, and teacher support activities. In addition he has served on the Arizona Technology Council for Workforce Development and received the Freeman Hover Award for Journalism. and Arizona Association of Career and Technical Educators Program of the Year. In cooperation with the ADE and the ASU Workforce and Economic Development Office, he has hosted and moderated training sessions for teachers of Multimedia Technologies across the state.
He continues to serve on the Multimedia Technology Program Advisory committees for East Valley Institute of Technology, Mesa public schools and Eastern Arizona College.
Internationally he served as international higher education coordinator and international advisory board member for the 2010-2012 Global Education Conference and was a participant in the Bahrain 2010 Global Education Experience. He has also worked with IREX leading online collaborative Citizen Journalism training for teachers and students in Kyrgyzstan.
Dave has also worked to seamlessly incorporate technology into the Fine Arts and Performing Arts, served on the Curriculum Re-design and Re-alignment committee for the Arizona Department of Education and was presented with the “Spotlight on Success” award for collaborative partnerships. He has worked to develop guidelines and tools for integrating the Arts, A/V Technologies, and Communication Career Cluster. The local implementation of the A.A.T.C. Career Cluster and his continued commitment to excellence most recently earned him a Technology in Education Finalist Award, Who’s Who in American Education selection, nomination for Outstanding Teacher in Arizona and Everyday Heroes Cox Communications Technology Award.
He is a regular conference presenter for National Association of Career Tech Educators, Micro Computers in Education, Student Television Network, Arizona News Association and Journalism Education Association.
He is a lead instructor for the Walter Cronkite School’s New Media Academy, Reynolds Journalism Institute, Summer Journalism Institute, Arizona Latino Media Association Institute, Interscholastic Press Association, Village Voice, Barrett Summer Scholars, Dow Jones News Foundation, Computer Using Educators of California and multimedia technology boot camps.
